On the Cantorial feature, two very nice selections by Cantor Sholom Katz (1914-1982). Born in Romania, he miraculously survived the Holocaust and came to the United States after the war and in 1947 became chazzan of the Beth Sholom Congregation here in Washington. He left Beth Sholom in 1957 to pursue full time concert and recording work. He lived in the Washington area for the rest of his life, passing away in 1982.
Today’s Cantorial feature is dedicated to the memory of my dear mother, Roslyn Shor, z”l on her 13th yartzeit. Cantor Katz was always her favorite and he even sang at her wedding!! We remain friends with the Katz family to this day!
