On the Cantorial Feature, two very nice selections by a very fine Cantor whose career was tragically cut short when he passed away at the untimely age of only 36 in 1985. He was the famous Cantor Johnny Gluck. Born in Hungary in 1948 he was raised in Ireland and at the age of only 17 became a chazzan in London. In 1979 he became cantor of the Wolmarans Street Shul in Johannesburg where he remained until his death in 1985. I had the honor to sing with him in concert here in Washington in 1984 and only a year later came the tragic news of his passing. He was a fine chazzan and is fondly remembered here on the Cantorial feature.
1. Ad Heino. The famous South African composition of Rev. A. M. Himelstein. Recorded in South Africa in 1982.
2. Uv’nucho Yomar-The famous composition by Yossele Rosenblatt. Recorded live in concert in Washington, DC in February of 1984.
