On the Cantorial Feature, two very nice selections by a chazzan famous in Baltimore for many years, Cantor Saul Hammerman. Born in New York in 1926, he sang in the New York area, first in choirs and later as a chazzan before entering the US Army during World War II where he served as a chaplain. In 1952 he became cantor of the Beth El Synagogue in Baltimore, where he served until his retirement in 1997 after 45 years of service. He remained with the shul as cantor emeritus until his passing in 2008.
