On the Cantorial Feature, two very nice selections by a very well-known Chazzan in the New York area, whose career was cut short when he passed away at an early age, Cantor Sidney Shicoff. Born in New York in 1920, he accompanied his father, a noted Cantor, as a child soloist. As an adult, blessed with a rich, powerful tenor voice, he davvened in all the major New York shuls, and in the Catskill resort hotels as well. His career was cut short when he passed away of a heart attack in 1965, when he was only 45 years old. His son, Neil, was a soloist for many years in the Metropolitan Opera. We hear two selections from a 1956 album which he made for the Metro Music Company in New York.
