On this week’s Cantorial Feature, two very nice selections by Cantor Shimon Farkas who is currently cantor of the Great Central Synagogue of Sydney, Australia. Born in Hungary in 1948, he emigrated to Israel when he was 12. For a number of years he was chazzan of the famous Concord Hotel in the Catskills. After a disastrous fire at the hotel in 1994, Cantor Farkas returned to Sydney and has served there ever since. On today’s Cantorial Feature, two selections from a 1993 recording put out by the Concord. Cantor Farkas is accompanied by the Concord choir.
