On the Cantorial Feature, two very nice selections by a fine Cantor of the preceding generation, Cantor Arele Diamond. Born in 1920 in New York he appeared as a boy cantor all over New York and sang in several leading choirs. By the late 1930’s he was officiating as a Cantor and in 1943 he was drafted into the US Army and conducted services as a chaplain for troops around the world. Returning to New York after the war, he became chazzan of the Manhattan Beach Jewish Center. He held this position until his passing in 1975. On the Cantorial Feature we hear two selections from a 1949 album made for the ABC company in New York. He is accompanied by Abe Ellstein at the organ.
