On the Cantorial Feature, we have two very nice selections by the Cantor who is today the elder statesman of the Cantorial profession, Cantor Moshe Taube. Born in Poland in 1927, he was saved by Oskar Schindler on his famous list. Liberated in 1945, he came to America and after serving as chazzan in New York for several years, in 1956 he became Cantor of Beth Shalom in Pittsburgh where he served with great distinction until his retirement. Today he is Cantor Emeritus of the congregation. In 1976 he appeared in concert in Dayton, Ohio with the Beth Abraham Youth Chorale. This outstanding children’s choir, under the direction of Cantor Jerome Kopmar, existed between 1971 and 1983. Each year, an outstanding Jewish singer would come to Dayton to sing in concert with the choir. In 1976 Cantor Taube was the guest soloist. We hear two very lovely selections from that recording:
1. Kol Adoshem
2. Uvnucho Yomar
