A very nice regular edition of the show, but the first part of the program is set aside with special recordings to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001, which is seared into all of our memories. On this week’s Cantorial Feature, two very nice selections by Cantor Uri Frenkel. Born in Munkatch in 1915, his family moved to England while he was still a child. Establishing himself on the British Cantorial scene in the 1940’s he held several positions in London before coming to the United States in 1949. He held positions in New York, Pittsburgh and in 1957 he became Cantor of the Sinai Temple in Los Angeles where he remained until his passing in 1995. He appeared in the film “The Jazz Singer” starring Neil Diamond in 1980.  The two selections we hear on the Cantorial Feature are from a 1951 series recorded for Disc Records in New York. Cantor Frenkel is accompanied by Nicholas L.  Saslavsky, well known cantorial accompianist.
