On the Cantorial Feature, two very nice selections by one of the foremost Cantors of the preceding generation, Cantor Louis Danto. Born in Suwalki, Poland in 1929, he was the only one of his family to survive the Holocaust. After years of studying music in Europe he came first to America in the 1950’s and for many years was a leading Cantor in Toronto, Canada until his retirement in 1998. He passed away in 2010. He was one of the finest bel canto tenors in any genre. These two selections are from a 1976 album:
