On the Cantorial Feature, two very nice selections by one of the great Chazzanim of the Golden Age, Cantor Joseph Shlisky (1894-1955). In the 1920’s and early 1930’s he was one of America’s foremost Cantors. At the height of his career in 1934, he was stricken with a massive, paralytic stroke which completely disabled him. Sadly, he never sang again and lived out the remainder of his life as a recluse and died in New York in 1955. On today’s program, two very nice selections from the series he did for Victor in the 1920’s:

2. Tikanto Shabbos and Uv’Yom Hashabbos-1927. Accompanied by a very nice choir. Listen carefully to the boy alto soloist who was very good and was singing his heart out with duets and solos on the recording.
