He davvened in several places in the 1920’s and 1930’s in Russia and Poland. In 1936, he left Poland and became cantor of the Dalston Synagogue in London, where he stayed until 1951 when he went to Winnepeg, Canada for a couple of years and then from 1953 until his untimely passing in 1959, he davvened in New York. Cantor Koussevitzky was an outstanding interpreter of the prayers and his style ranked him as one of the great “Zoger” chazzanim. On today’s Cantorial Feature, we hear two very nice selections from a 1956 album, recorded in New York.
