Hi Everybody!! The first of five special holiday programs is up on the website for your enjoyment!! This program features music from the Slichos service, the penitential prayers recited in the days up until Rosh Hashanah. You will enjoy rare, live recordings as well as wonderful vintage and modern music. It’s a great way to get the holidays started!! Hi Everybody!! The latest edition of the program is up on the website for your enjoyment!! A very fine regular program for the holiday weekend. And speaking of holidays, this week’s program is the last regular program, as beginning with next week’s program we will begin our series of five complete programs for the holidays, which are right around the corner. Next week, we will have program #1, a complete program of music from the Slichos services, recited in the days leading up to Rosh Hashanah. On the Cantorial Feature, two very nice selections by Cantor Moshe Taube. Born in Poland in 1927, he was saved as a teenager from the Holocaust by being one of those on “Schindler’s List’. Arriving in the United States in the late 1940’s, he became a Chazzan and davvened first in New York, and then in 1956, he went to Pittsburgh, where for the next 50 years he was Cantor of the Beth Sholom Congregation. Today at the age of 90, he lives in retirement as the “elder statesman” of the Cantorial profession. Cantor Taube sings:
